周末来一场自我犒赏之旅

配合10月是国际乳癌醒觉月,Mandarin Oriental酒店特别推出Pink Afternoon Tea下午茶套餐,并邀请知名婚纱设计师Celest Thoi与自家行政糕点厨师Chef Antony Hoyle携手呈献。

每一个精致的甜点背后都有着两位大师级的创意与用心,而且配合作为全球乳癌防治运动公认标示的粉红丝带,整个甜点以粉红色为主题。其中一个马卡龙更是“别上”粉红丝带,生动诠释下午茶背后支持的乳癌醒觉运动。

Pink Afternoon Tea一套共有13个不同的甜点与精致三文治,小巧可爱的造型简直满足了“相机先吃”的定律,同时也叫人不舍得吃下。

第三站:Bref By Darren Chin

吃大餐总是与犒赏脱不了关系,那就让你的五脏庙来个不太严谨的法式料理之旅吧!

Darren Chin这个月在TTDI迎来第二间餐厅Bref by Darren Chin。Bref在法语中有“简短”的含义,也是Darren Chin一心拥有当代巴黎小酒馆的愿景。

餐厅的料理风格依旧是他拿手的法式料理,但餐厅轻松自在的门面与氛围,为一般高级精致料理(Fine Dining)褪去一层仪式感,也更能让味蕾专心一致地体验食物的纯粹。

与第一间高级法式餐馆DC Restaurant略有不同,新餐馆没有餐饮定义的限制,Bref by Darren Chin更倾向于分享美味食物在他脑海中的记忆面貌,以供应更贴近生活的酒吧餐点为主。

A BREATH OF FRESH AIR. Once in three months or so, or at the minimum, twice a year, Siew and I get together for a meal at a nice restaurant to catch up on each other's lives, and we always have a lovely time together. Last night was no exception when we visited Bref by Darren Chin @bref.kl , the newest bistro in TTDI. We talked and laughed over an abundance of good food and wine, and when we thought we were done for the evening, we weren't. We bumped into David Chin @dchin99 and we ended up staying on even longer with more wine and cheese. These are the best kinds of evenings, when conversations are fueled by the passion for food, all types: food and cooking that provokes thought. Which brings us back to Bref. We had a complimentary antipasti of olives, piquillo peppers, peperoncini served with two types of bread, followed by two entrees, the torchon de foie gras served with gorgeous wild flower honey from Chiang Mai (you must eat them together to experience the synergy of flavours, but pair the honey in moderation as its flavour can overpower the dish) and the DC signature cold somen with aged ponzu, uni, and crab. We wanted the much talked about burrata, but they'd run out of it. And when David described it later that evening (imagine this: hollandaise sauce, gratined, with burrata, pickled sardine fillets and basil….how not to get excited?), I wanted to cry. We had three mains: first the octopus with saffron sabayon and triple fried chips – the octopus had a lovely charred flavour and cut like butter. So good. Siew loves his chicken, so we ordered chicken breast cooked in a moreish buttery wild mushroom sauce – let's just say chicken has never been this sexy. And finally, an off-menu special, braised short ribs, perfectly executed, cooked in the most wonderful dark sticky sauce. If I weren't wearing red lipstick (it transfers so easily, it's annoying), I'd have picked up the plate and licked it clean. With so much wine and food in our system, we could barely eat desserts, and we shared a pear tart with vanilla sorbet. Overall, an excellent meal coupled with the best conversations.
